International Year of Statistics 2013

Statistics2013

The International Year of Statistics is a global celebration that seeks to recognize the contributions of statistical science on all levels of society. The objectives of this international year include:

  • to increase public awareness of the power and impact of statistics
  • to promote statistics as a profession, especially among young people
  • and ensure the development of creativity and science of probability and statistics

Idescat has joined the International Year of Statistics as official statistical body of Catalonia and will promote several activities throughout 2013 to support the objectives of this celebration. All of them will be properly collected and published on this website.

On April 10, 2013 the Parliament of Catalonia fully supports the celebration of the International Year of Statistics and has joined the aim of promoting public awareness of the impact of statistics in all aspects of life and society, in an institutional declaration signed by all groups, which you can see and hear in the video the Parliament Channel.
