Industrial Products Survey

The Industrial products survey (EIP) is an annual statistical operation carried out by the INE, in collaboration with Idescat in the area of Catalonia, to obtain precise and reliable information on a broad range of industrial products.

The objectives of this Survey are, firstly, to gather complete information on the products in the industrial sector, offering results that are sufficiently detailed to allow for the study of a broad range of products, an analysis of their markets and the development of time series. Secondly, the Survey aims to present information that is fully integrated with the data on foreign trade and trade with other EU countries, thanks to the use of standardised methodologies.

Idescat uses the individualised data from the Survey to expand the results for Catalonia annually. The results are presented in four types of tables (see section 9 of the methodology). In addition, an exhaustive list of the products researched by the Survey can be downloaded (Excel), including those that are statistically confidential and those not manufactured in the reference year.

Since 2008, the 2009 Catalan Classification of Economic Activities has been used (CCAE-2009). The results for 1993 to 2007, which used the CCAE-93, are included in the publication Estadística, producció i comptes de la indústria [Industrial statistics, production and accounts].

In 2021, the Survey was adapted to the new European regulations, which resulted in a methodological change and means that the results for 2021 onwards are not directly comparable with those of previous years.
