On 20th and 21st October, 2016, the offices of Idescat will be host to the II International Workshop on Proximity Data, Multivariate Analysis and Classification. The workshop will include the annual meeting of the Multivariate Analysis and Classification work group, part of the Society of Statistics and Operations Research (SEIO).
The Multivariate Analysis and Classification work group, which consists of over 50 researchers from all the Spanish universities, holds an annual meeting with the objective of promoting the communication between its members and with other researchers. This year it also seeks to contribute to the development of multivariate analysis and classification, and related applications and issues.
This year's workshop, which will be the second edition, will pay homage to Carles M. Cuadras, who was the founder of the Spanish Multivariate Analysis and Classification work group. The work group aims to highlight the significant contributions of Dr. Cuadras in multivariate analysis and his career.
Idescat will be present at the workshop with the participation of the statistician Mònica Gasulla, who will be giving a lecture entitled "Dynamic Factor Models for GDP nowcasting: An application to the Catalan economy".
