78.9% of the population between 16 and 74 years of age in Catalonia regularly use the Internet, a figure which lies 2.5 points above the Spanish mean, according to the 2016 Survey on ICT Equipment and Use in Households.
As for purchases made on the Internet, 41.4% of people between 16 and 74 years of age made purchases on the Internet during the 3 months prior to the realization of the Survey. This figure represents an increase of 2.6 points in comparison with 2015 and lies 6.5 points above the Spanish average (34.9%). By age ranges, more than half the people between 16 and 24 years of age and 25 and 34 years of age acquired goods and services on the Internet in that period (53.1% and 59.6%, respectively).
The percentage of children between 10 and 15 years of age who have a mobile phone has risen by 3.8 points, increasing from 61.8% in 2015 to 65.6% this year.
As for household equipment, 80.9% have some kind of computer and 82.3% have broadband Internet access.
