The number of overnight stays in hotel establishments in Catalonia decreased by 6.2% year-over-year for the month of November 2017, according to the Hotel Occupancy Survey. Domestic tourist overnight stays decreased by 4.1%: Catalan travellers increased by 3.3% and travellers from the rest of the State decreased by 10.9%. Foreign tourism overnight stays decreased by 7.3% year-over-year.
By main country of origin, overnight stays of tourists from the United States increased by 24.4%, while those of residents in United Kingdom (&minus18.9%), France (&minus15.9;%) and Germany (&minus 5.5;%)
By tourism brands, Costa Daurada (20.9%) and Paisatges Barcelona (19.4%) were the locations that presented the highest increases at overnight stays. However, these decreased by 17.7%, by 7.6% and 3.3% in Costa Brava, Val d'Aran and Terres de l'Ebre, respectively.
On the other hand, the number of travellers registered in hotel establishments decreased by 0.7% year-over-year with decreased in both foreing tourists (−2.2%) and increased in domestic tourism (1.4%).

The Hotel Occupancy Survey is one of the main sources of statistics for gauging tourist activity. Carried out each month by INE, it provides information on travellers, overnight stays and the occupancy rate in hotel establishments. Idescat analyses these variables according to the provenance of the travellers by place of origin and by destination zones and by category of the establishment.
