The number of trips to Catalonia by residents of the rest of Spain showed a 9.2% year-over-year decrease in the fourth quarter of 2017, which meant a total of 973.2 trips, 4021.2 overnight stays, an average stay of 4.1 nights and an expenditure of 369 million euros.
The expenditure on trip to Catalonia of residents in the rest of Spain in the fourth quarter of 2017 was 379 euros per person, a figure that represents an increase of 2.5% above the fourth quarter of 2016, equivalent to a daily expenditure of 92 euros.
The number of a day trips to Catalonia of residents in the rest of Spain totalled in the vicinity of 198,3 in the fourth quarter of 2017, with a decrease of 4.5% in comparison to the same quarter of the previous year.
In 2017, the number of trips to Catalonia by residents in the rest of Spain decreased a 0,5%, the total amount of expenditure in trips of residents in the rest of Spain in Catalonia grew a 2.4%, and the average daily expenditure per person, a 3.4%.
The statistic Tourism in Catalonia of residents in the rest of Spain (TURESP) provides quarterly and annual information on the number of tourist trips of residents in the rest of Spain whose primary destination of their trip is Catalonia, and on the expenditure associated with these trips.
The interactive consultation of this statistic allows crossing of various variables related to the main characteristics of these trips: autonomous community of residence, length of trip, reason for travelling, main accommodation type, way of organisation, type of trip and means of transport. When a calculation is possible, it also provides the year-over-year variation of each variable. The data reference period is considered the month in which the trip ends, regardless of its length.
