Gross domestic product at market prices (GDP mp) measures the total economic activity of a territory's productive units. It is calculated based on market prices, as production value takes into account the incidence of grants and taxes.

From a supply standpoint, GDP makes it possible to assess the contributions made by different productive branches to the whole of the economy; that is to say, it encompasses the gross value added of the main activity branches, based on basic prices.

GDP estimates on county and the municipal levels in Catalonia are changing their accounting base, and now is based on base 2010 and the Input Output Methodological Framework for Catalonia 2011 and on the results of the Annual Economic Results in Catalonia.
