Exports fell a 1.2% year-on-year in Catalonia in May 2018. By economic destination, exports decreased for capital and consumer goods, a 8.4% and a 3.4%, respectively; however, those of intermediate goods grew a 1.3%. On the other hand, imports grew by 1.1% year-on-year, as a result of the increase in imports of all type of goods: those of capital goods by 3.9%, those of consumer goods by 1.4% and those of intermediate goods by 0.6%.
The main goal of these statistics is to present the trade flows of exports and imports of goods between Catalonia and abroad a monthly basis. The administrative information source with which Idescat works is the territorial operations file of the Customs and Special Taxes Department of the State Tax Administration Agency. The file in question contains the most relevant information obtained from Single Administrative Document (SAD) and Intrastat declaration data.
