Tourism of residents in Catalonia. Q4/2018 and 2018

The number of trips made by Catalans increased 2.3% year–over–year in the fourth quarter 2018. People residing in Catalonia made 6,2 million trips, involving 21,3 million overnight stays, an average stay being 3.4 nights, and an expenditure of 1,649 million euros.

The expenditure of Catalans on trips in the fourth quarter came to 265 euros per person, which represents a increase of 11.8% in comparison with the fourth quarter of 2017, and expenditure of 77 euros per day.

The number of day trips made by people residing in Catalonia stood at 13,6 million in the fourth quarter of 2018, 1.5% more than in the same quarter of the previous year.

In 2018 the number of trips made by Catalans increased 6.0%, the total amount of expenditure by catalan travellers grew a 15.6% and the daily average expenditure per person a 9.5%. According to the main destination of the trip, 60.9% of the trips of the Catalans were made in Catalonia (with an annual increase of 2.0%); 23.5% went to the rest of the State (increase of 8.4%) and 15.6% to foreign countries (increase of 20.5%).
