ED Demographic Survey

The Demographic Survey 2007 has two main objectives: firstly, to update the information on the main demographic variables in terms of the population, households and families and housing. Secondly, it aims to obtain a more in-depth understanding of the causes and consequences of the current demographic changes by means of the causes of migration, the fertility of generations, the constitution of descendants, the formation and dissolution of couples, the emancipation of minors, the emergence of new family types and the participation of the population in unpaid domestic labour.

The survey provides information on the 41 counties, the provincial capitals and municipalities with over 100,000 inhabitants. More detailed results can only be obtained for Catalonia, the city of Barcelona and the 7 areas of the Territorial Plan.

Idescat carries out this statistical study, which is a sample survey intended for Catalan households and the people who inhabit them.
