Indicators of Service Sector Activity

The Turnover Index on the Service Sector is a short-term indicator used to measure the evolution of the activity of non-financial market service companies in Catalonia through the turnover variable. As a value index, it measures the joint evolution of quantities, quality and prices.

Idescat produces the general index for the sector on a monthly basis, and calculates the Catalan indices for the trade sector and for the other services. In accordance with the Catalan Classification of Economic Activity 2009 (CCAE-2009), the other services are disaggregated by the following sectors: transport and storage, hostelry, information and communications, professional, scientific and technical activities, and administrative activities and auxiliary services.

The primary source of information is the continuous monthly survey carried out by the INE.
