Monthly data

Methodological note

Mercantile companies created, increased and dissolved are highly variable data, particularly on a month to month basis, but they are relevant indicators which are strongly connected to the economic situation and economic agents' expectations.

These statistics are drawn up using annual information provided by the Central Mercantile Register with regard to the creation (and dissolution) of mercantile companies, the number of such companies that have increased their capital and the value of the expansion of their capital. These are the data provided by the provincial mercantile registries for their subsequent publication in the Official Gazette of the Mercantile Registry (BORME).

Mercantile companies created means the number of companies registered in the Central Mercantile Register in the reference month regardless of the date on which they began their business operations. Companies are registered in the Central Mercantile Register by type of company and the nominal value of their equity capital according to the instrument of incorporation.

Mercantile companies dissolved means the number of cancellations in the Central Mercantile Register by type of company and the nominal value of their equity capital, according to the instrument of dissolution. These cancellations are classified by the grounds given for winding up the company.

Capital increased by mercantile companies is calculated according to the nominal value that appears in the deed of capital increase.
