Methodological note

Index of inland freight transport volume as a percentage of the GDP.

This indicator is defined as the ratio between tonnes-kilometres (inland modes) and GDP (chain-linked volumes, at 2010 exchange rates). It is indexed on 2010. It includes transport by road, rail and inland waterways. Rail and inland waterways transport are based on movements on national territory, regardless of the nationality of the vehicle or vessel. Road transport is based on all movements of vehicles registered in the reporting country.
