Methodological note

Methodological aspects

The purpose of the School-Age Population Projections statistical operation is to define the scenario which best reflects the recent demographic evolution of the school-age population.

It provides the results of the projection pyramids by sex and individual ages from 0 to 20 and also by ages grouped by level of education (from 0 to 2, 3 to 5, 6 to 11, 12 to 15, 15 to 17 and 18 to 20 years old).

This operation, which is updated every five years, provides information for Catalonia, the areas of the Territorial Plan, counties and the city of Barcelona.

Idescat produces School-Age Population Projections from the Population Projections of Catalonia, which are also updated every five years.
