VAG

These statistics have a specific section with all the information available: Statistics on Strikes and Lockouts (VAG).

Methodological note

The strike statistics are compiled from data collected through questionnaires completed in the provincial directorates of the Ministry of Labour and Social Economy or the labour ministries of the different autonomous communities for each strike or company closure. This information is sent to the Ministry of Labour and Social Economy, which compiles the corresponding statistics.

The strike statistics are compiled in accordance with ILO standards and include all strikes, even if there is no administrative record of their start date, with the exception of those that do not involve days not worked (such as ‘work-to-rule' actions), those lasting less than one hour, those involving non-productive activities (consumers, students) and those involving collectives that do not have the right to strike (military officials and security forces).

From 2017 onwards, the information on general strikes and nationwide sectoral strikes is no longer included in the data on labour disputes.
