The growth forecast of Catalan businesses for the fourth quarter of 2018 registers a balance of 12.6 points, which represents an decrease of 2.2 points with respect to the forecasts for the previous quarter (14.8 points), according to the Business Climate Survey.
By activity sectors, all sectors show a positive forecast in the fourth quarter of 2018, except for hostelry (−3.7). Industry and the Rest of services stand out with a balance in expectations of 15.1 and 14.5 points, respectively.
The Business Climate Survey (CLEM) collects quarterly the opinion of the representatives of 3,000 companies with activity in Catalonia and allows to know the current situation, the evolution and the expectations of a set of variables affecting the economic development of businesses, and also to anticipate possible changes of trend in the economic cycle. It presents results for Catalonia and for the sectors of industry, construction, retail, hotel business and company service sectors.
The statistical operation is produced jointly by the Barcelona Official Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Shipping and Idescat. To obtain the results, the sample taken from this survey was integrated with the sample for Catalonia from the operation Business Confidence Indicators conducted by the INE.
