24.9% of Catalan companies with 10 employees or more made e-commerce sales in 2017, according to the Survey on the Use of ICT and e-Commerce in Companies 2017-2018. This figure represents a decrease of 0.2 points compared to the previous year and a difference of 5.3 points on the Spanish data (19.6%). The value of the sales of these companies made through digital networks represented 40.4% of its turnover, and lay 0.3 points below the previous year (40.7%) and 1.9 points above the Spanish average (38.5%).
With regard to the intensity of use of ICT in companies with 10 employees or more in the first quarter of 2018, 99.4% have an Internet access. Of these, 84.3% have a web page, 82.4 use mobile broadband connection, 70.0% use digital signatures in communications with external agents and 31.7% acquired Cloud Computing services. 55.0% uses social media for work purposes, use of social networks standing out (93.0%). On the other hand, 10.3% of companies use some kind of robot. Of these, 75.2% use industrial robots (laser cutter, automatic paint gun, etc.) and 36.8% use service robots (for surveillance, cleaning, etc.).
Regarding companies with less than 10 employees, 80.0% have Internet access, of which 71.4% use a mobile broadband connection and 34.8% have a web page.
Idescat presents the detailed results of the survey for Catalonia as a whole. These statistics are published annually and provide information of the main indicators in relation to the use of such technologies by Catalan companies. The results on the equipment and use of ICT refer to first quarter 2018, while the information on e-commerce relates to 2017.
