The Industrial Products Price Index (which does not include energy) increased by 0.9% on a year-over-year basis in Catalonia in December 2018. By large industrial sectors, the prices increased for all goods: equipment goods (1.4%), intermediate goods (1.0%) and consumer goods (0.6%).
On the other hand, by industrial divisions, the most significant increases in prices were registred in printing and reproduction of recorded media (5.9%), in the wood and cork industry, except furniture; articles straw and plaiting materials (3.1%) and in the other manufacturing industries (2.9%); while prices decreased in the field of metallurgy; manufacture of basic iron, steel and ferroalloy products (−0.3%).
During the same period the industrial price index grew a 1.8% compared to the same month of the previous year.
In 2018, Industrial Products Price Index (which does not include energy), in annual average terms, increased 1.4% in relation to the previous year, according to provisional data. By large industrial sectors, all showed increases: the prices of intermediate goods (2.5%), the prices of equipment goods (1.1%) and the prices of consumer goods (0.5%).
The Industrial Price Index, in annual average terms, increased by 2.7% compared to the previous year principally as a result of the increase in energy prices (8.0%).
