Francesc Xavier Cuadras Morató, appointed Director of Idescat, the Statistical Institute of Catalonia

On Tuesday the Government approved the appointment of Francesc Xavier Cuadras Morató as the Director of the Statistical Institute of Catalonia, replacing Frederic Udina Abelló, who, after eight years at the helm of Idescat, will resume his university career.

The appointment is for a period of six years, in accordance with the provisions of the Statistical Law of Catalonia, and it has been favourably assessed by the Catalan Statistical Council.

Cuadras, born in Igualada in 1965, graduated in Economic and Business Sciences at the University of Barcelona and obtained a doctorate in Economics at the University of York (United Kingdom). He has been a full professor in the Department of Economics and Business of the Pompeu Fabra University and director of the (ESCI-UPF) School of International Studies, among other teaching responsibilities and university positions. He is the author of numerous articles for specialized journals and the co-author of several publications on the Catalan economy.
