Statistics on Hotel Activity. 06/2019

The number of overnight stays in hotel establishments in Catalonia increased by 6.2% year-over-year for the month of June 2019, according to the Hotel Occupancy Survey. Domestic tourism overnight stays increased by 6.9%: of these, Catalan travellers increased by 12.8% while travellers from the rest of the State decreased by 0.4% year-over-year. Foreign tourism overnight stays grew by 5.9% year-over-year.

By country of origin, tourists from United Kingdom, France, Germany and Russia presented the highest figure in overnight stays in absolute terms (829.4, 567.8, 514.5 and 508.3 thousand, respectively), with year-on-year variations of different sign: France and Germany grew by 8.3% and by 45.7%, respectively, while United Kingdom and Russia decreased by 5.7%.

By tourism brands, Barcelona and Costa Brava were the locations that registered the highest number of overnight stays in absolute terms (2,020.9 and 1,585.4 thousand, respectively) and show positive year-over-year variations, of 5.1% and 13,1%, respectively.

On the other hand, the number of travellers registered in hotel establishments grew by 5.1% year-over-year, with increases in domestic turism by 5.2%, and by 5.0% in foreign tourism.
