Survey on the Use of ICT and e-Commerce in Companies. 2018-2019

25.3% of Catalan companies with 10 or more employees used e-commerce as a sales channel in 2018, according to the 2018-2019 Survey on the Use of ICT and e-Commerce in Companies. This is an increase of 0.4 points over the previous year (24.9%). Sales for these companies through digital networks accounted for 40.0% of their turnover, and was 0.4 points below that of the previous year (40.4%).

With regard to the intensity of use of ICT, in in the first quarter of 2019, 98.8% of companies with 10 or more employees have an Internet connection. Of these, 86.0% have a website, 76.7% provide employees with mobile devices with a mobile Internet connection, 84.0% use broadband mobile to connect to the web and 78.7% use a digital signature in communications with external agents. Furthermore, 60.6% of companies with 10 or more employees with an Internet connection use social media for work-related purposes, and of these social networks are predominant (96.3%). With regard to the purchase of IT services in cloud computing, in the first quarter of 2019, 36.6% of companies with an Internet connection had purchased them.

Regarding companies with less than 10 employees, 79.2% have Internet access, of which 73.0% use a mobile broadband connection and 33.3% have a web page.

These statistics are published annually and provide information of the main indicators in relation to the use of such technologies by Catalan companies. The results on the equipment and use of ICT refer to first quarter 2019, while the information on e-commerce relates to 2018.
