Labour Cost Statistics. Q3 2019
The labour cost per worker and month stood at 2,678.68 euros in Catalonia in the third quarter of 2019, 3.1% more than in the same quarter of 2018. For specific sectors, the labour cost per worker and month in the sector ICT was 4,052.86 euros, 1.7% more than a year ago, while the culture sector stood at 3,033.86 euros, with a year-over-year decrease of 2.9%. The tourism sector grew 3.5% compared to the same quarter of 2018, with a labour cost of 2,109.65 euros per worker and month. Within the tourism sector, the highest labour cost was recorded by the tourism transport subsector (3,441.52 euros). In the culture sector, the audiovisual sub-sector and advertising were the ones with the highest labour costs (3,486.19 euros).
The wage cost per worker and month increased by 2.7% in Catalonia and reached 1,962.71 euros. The wage cost in the ICT sector was 3,077.19 euros, and in the culture and tourism sectors 2,257.81 euros and 1,529.20 euros respectively.
Byeffective hour, the labour cost was 22.84 euros, and the wage cost 16.73 euros. In the analysed specific sectors, ICT sector had the highest effective wage cost per hour (23.78 euros), followed by the cultural (18.80 euros) and tourism (13.29 euros) sectors.
Finally, the number of job vacancies is 23,251, 18.2% more than a year ago, and the service sector accounts for 86.1% of these job vacancies.
