Municipal Population Register. Health regions. 2019

Idescat issues, for the first time, the population of Catalonia by health regions, classified by sex and quinquennial age groups, as of 1 January 2019.

The data comes from the statistical exploitation of the Municipal Population Register as of 1 January 2019 and corresponds to the registered population (men, women and the total) by quinquennial age groups, up to 95 years and over.

The information is presented disaggregated by the health regions of L’Alt Pirineu i Aran, El Camp de Tarragona, Central Catalonia, Girona, Lleida and Les Terres de l'Ebre. The Barcelona health region is presented disaggregated into two areas (North Metropolitan and South Metropolitan) and in the city of Barcelona. If a municipality is split into two health regions, the entire allocation of the population is made to the region where the main town or city of the municipality is located (that is to say the one where there is a town or city council).

With the aim of managing health services in Catalonia, the Catalan Health Service divides the territory into seven health regions.
