Announcement of the 14th Nursery Competition for Surveys and Experiments

The registration period for the 14th edition of the Nursery Competition for Surveys and Experiments, for statistical studies conducted by students in compulsory secondary education, baccalaureate and training cycles in the academic year 2022-2023, is already open to give more room for participation. The closing date for registering is 14 April 2023.

The competition is organised by the Faculty of Mathematics and Statistics at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, the Faculty of Economics and Business at the Universitat de Barcelona and the Faculty of Science at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, and which is supported by Idescat. Its main objective is to foster among pupils a curiosity for statistics as a fundamental research instrument in both experimental and social sciences.

The competition is offering four awards for the best projects presented up until 8 May 2023: 1st and 2nd years of compulsory secondary education (ESO) category, 3rd and 4th years of ESO category, pre-university and vocational courses category and a special prize awarded by Idescat for the best project of all (any year) using public statistical data, either as available on the Idescat website itself or on other equivalent services (INE, Eurostat, statistical institutes in other regions, etc.). The awards will be presented on thursday 1 June 2023 (5.30 p.m.), at the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
