Foreign Trade according to Technological Content. Q1/2023

Catalonia exported industrial products worth 25,339.9 million euros in the first quarter of 2023, a figure that represents an increase of 21.8% compared to the same quarter of the previous year. The grouping of industrial products according to research and development (R&D) effort shows that all levels showed increases: sales abroad of products with a high technological content increased by 26.2%; those of medium-high level (which have increased the most), by 32.6%; those of medium-low level, by 5.4%, and those of low level, by 11.5%.

Catalonia imported industrial products worth 26,266.6 million euros in the first quarter of 2023, a figure that represents a year-over-year increase of 10.7%. Foreign purchases at all technological levels showed increases: imports at the high technological level increased by 9.2%, those at the medium-high level by 16.9%, those at the medium-low level by 2.0% and those at the low level by 6.1%.
