Statistics on Salaried Employment and Self-Employment according to Social Security Affiliations. 09/2024. Provisional data
The number of affiliations to the Social Security General Regime with location of the contribution account in Catalonia increased by 2.0% year-over-year in September 2024 and stood at 3,113,560 affiliations, according to provisional data. By counties, those with the highest relative increases were El Bages (5.3%), La Segarra (5.0%) and El Lluçanès (4.4%). On the other hand, El Priorat (−3.8%), L'Alta Ribagorça (−3.0%) and Osona (−1.1%) are the counties that recorded the largest decreases. The highest increases in absolute terms were recorded in El Barcelonès (29,885 affiliations), El Vallès Occidental (4,375 affiliations) and El Gironès (3,690 affiliations). On the contrary, Osona (−700 affiliations) and El Baix Empordà (−200 affiliations) showed the largest decreases in absolute terms.
The number of self-employed workers carrying out economic activities in Catalonia rose by 0.8% year-over-year to 564,940 affiliations. The counties that have recorded the greatest increase in relative terms are El Baix Penedès (2.1%), El Gironès (1.9%) and El Barcelonès (1.7%). In absolute numbers, the growth was led by El Barcelonès (2,970 affiliations), El Vallès Oriental (320 affiliations) and El Maresme (310 affiliations). On the other hand, L'Alta Ribagorça (−6.1%), L'Alt Urgell (−3.7%) and La Terra Alta (−3.6%) are the counties with the largest relative decreases, and El Segrià (−220 affiliations), El Bages (−210 affiliations) and L'Alt Empordà and La Noguera (−70 affiliations each) dis so in absolute terms.
The number of contribution accounts to the Social Security General Regime in Catalonia decreased by 0.2% year-over-year (−600 contribution accounts) to 246,353 accounts. The counties that led the fall in relative numbers are L'Alta Ribagorça (−4.4%), La Segarra (−3.0%) and Les Garrigues (−2.7%). In absolute numbers, El Vallès Occidental (−188 contribution accounts), El Baix Empordà (−104 accounts) and La Selva (−95 accounts) are the counties that recorded the largest drops. On the other hand, El Barcelonès (405 accounts), La Cerdanya (32 accounts) and El Pla d'Urgell (22 accounts) are the counties that recorded the highest growths in absolute terms, and La Terra Alta (3.4%), La Cerdanya (2.9%) and El Pla d'Urgell (1.8%) did so in relative terms.
