CENSPH Population and Housing Census

The Population and Housing Census is a statistical operation performed every ten years which provides a headcount of the population residing within the territory of a particular country and its geographical distribution. It also provides information on the main demographic and social characteristics of the population and the families and households.

Territorially speaking, it provides information at a municipal (including census tracts and districts) and county level, as well as for the areas of the Territorial Plan, provinces and Catalonia.

The Population and Housing Census is a state-wide statistical operation performed by the INE. Since 1991, Idescat has worked on different aspects of the census. The 2011 Census was the first to be performed under a European mandate.
