Methodological note

The Industrial New Orders Received Index (IECI) is a short-term indicator used to measure the evolution of Catalan companies' business activity in terms of future demand (reception of orders) aimed at industrial sectors.

The IECI is an index value, i.e. it measures the aggregate evolution of quantities, qualities and prices. The fact that orders received by companies first lead to production and then to sales makes the IECI a predictive indicator of what will happen to the industry in the short term.

The Industrial New Orders Received Index of the Industrial products does not include the energy (divisions 05, 06, 19, 35 and 36 of CCAE-09).

Said methodology is expanded in Industrial New Orders Received Indices.
