Methodological note
The Register of Inhabitants Residing Abroad is an administrative record consisting of the Spanish nationals who normally live abroad –regardless of whether they have dual nationality or not–and the last municipality in Catalonia where they were registered. The objective is to obtain tabulations on the name and basic characteristics of Catalans residing abroad, based on an initial treatment of the Register of Spaniards Residing Abroad regarding those whose previously registered municipality was located in Catalonia.
