Methodological note
The centenarian population by sex is calculated in the Population Estimates since the year 2012. The centenarian population figures are obtained from population counts and are available for Catalonia, the provinces, the areas of the Territorial Plan and the counties and Aran. For Catalonia, they also provide the centenarian population classified by sex and age up to the group of 105 and over.
On the other hand, for the period 1981-2011 the centenarian population by sex comes from the Centenarian Population Estimate. . The figures are calculated from data on deaths and survival rates, they are classified by sex and age up to the group of 105 and over, and they are available for Catalonia.
