Industrial Price Index. 05/2023

The industrial products price index (which does not include energy) increased by 1.0% in year-over-year terms in Catalonia in May 2023.

During the same period the industrial price index (which includes energy) decreased by 3.3% compared with the same month of the previous year. By large industrial sectors, prices of consumer goods increased by 7.9% and those of capital goods by 3.1%, while energy prices decreased by 18.4% and those of intermediate goods by 6.7%.

Moreover, by industrial divisions, the most significant increases in prices were registered in manufacture of beverages (14.2%), in manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products (12.6%) and in wood and cork industry except furniture; articles straw and plaiting materials (10.5%). By contrast, prices decreased in metallurgy and manufacture of basic iron, steel and ferroalloy products (−21.3%) and in chemical industries (−12.6%).
