Exports increased by a year-over-year 4.8% and imports by 1.5% in Catalonia in May 2023.

By economic destination, exports of consumer goods (24.0%) and of capital goods (5,0%) increased; however, those of intermediate goods decreased by 5.3%. By geographical areas, the increases in sales to Central and South America (56.3%) stood out.

On the other hand, by economic destination, imports of of all goods decreased: consumer goods by 8.8%, capital goods by 12.5% and intermediate goods by 4.5%. By geographical areas, there was a decrease in purchases from European Union (−1,6%), other countries of Europe (−18,3%), Central and South America (−29.2%) and in the rest of the world (−15.7%); on the other hand, purchases in in North America (46,9%) increased.
