Survey on Language Uses of the Population 2023

Work has begun on the collection of information for the Survey on Language Uses of the Population 2023 (EULP). It is a five-year survey, and this year the fieldwork will be carried out from the end of September 2023 to the end of March 2024. It collects information on the uses of Catalan and other languages in the different areas of personal relations of the population of Catalonia. The way in which the information is collected is multi-channel, so that respondents can fill in the questionnaire through three response channels: online, by telephone and in person.

The Survey of Language Uses of the Population is an official statistic included in the corresponding Annual Statistical Action Programme (action 04 05 01), which implements the Law on the Statistical Plan for Catalonia 2017–2020, approved by the Law 5/2016 of 23 December (currently extended for the year 2023).

The institutions responsible for this survey are the Department of Culture, through the Secretariat for Language Policy, and Idescat.
