Industrial Production Index. 08/2023

The Industrial Production Index adjusted by working days decreased by 0.1% year-over-year in Catalonia in August 2023. By large industrial sectors, capital goods (5.8%) and consumer goods (0.5%) increased, while energy (−3.3%) and intermediate goods (−2.8%) decreased.

In the same period, the Industrial Products Index (which does not include energy and is not adjusted by working days) increased by 0.5% compared to the same month of the previous year, and the Industrial Production Index (which includes energy) decreased by 0.1%. By large industrial sectors, capital goods (5.8%) and consumer goods (0.5%) increased; while energy (−3.3%) and intermediate goods (−2.8%) decreased.

Finally, by industrial divisions the highest increases were registered by the manufacture of pharmaceutical products (23.6%) and the manufacture of machinery and mechanical equipment (9.0%); on the other hand, the textile, clothing, leather and footwear industries decreased (−16.9%) as did the graphic arts and recorded media industries (−8.8%).
