Statistics on Hotel Activity. 2022. Definitive data

Overnight stays in hotels increased by 107.6% in Catalonia in 2022 according to definitive data from the Hotel Occupancy Survey, que actualizan los datos provisionales. By origin of travellers, overnight stays from domestic tourism increased 33.0%: 17.8% from Catalans and 58.5% from tourists coming from the rest of Spain. Overnight stays from foreign tourists increased by 183.6% year-over-year.

By country of origin, tourists from France and the United Kingdom showed more overnight stays in absolute terms (6.9 and 4.6 million, respectively), with positive annual variations: 81.2% and 637.1%, respectively.

By tourism brands, Barcelona, Costa Brava and Costa Barcelona were the locations that registered the highest number of overnight stays in absolute terms (20.7, 10.5 and 9.0 million, respectively) with positive annual variations of 137.0%, 73.1% and 134.5% respectively.

On the other hand, the total number of travellers registered in hotels increased by 86.5% compared to the previous year, with increases in domestic tourism (30.8%) and in foreign tourism (163.6%).
