Exports increased by a year-over-year 1.8% and imports decreased by 5.2% in Catalonia in August 2023.

By economic destination, exports of consumer goods increased by 11.9%, while exports of intermediate goods decreased by 5.4% and those of capital goods by 0.5%. By geographical areas, the increases in sales to the European Union (3.0%) and other countries of Europe (33.1%) stood out.

On the other hand, by economic destination, imports of capital goods decreased by 8.8% and those of intermediate goods by 7.8%; however, imports of consumer goods (0.5%) increased. By geographical areas, the increases in purchases from North America (54.3%) and the European Union (3.2%) stood out; on the other hand, the decreases in purchases from Central and South America (−2.8%), other countries of Europe (−4.5%) and the rest of the world (−20,1%) stood out.
