Industrial Production Index. 09/2023

The Industrial Production Index adjusted by working days increased by 1.7% year-over-year in Catalonia in September 2023. By large industrial sectors, capital goods (9.3%) and intermediate goods (1.7%) increased, while energy (−10.5%) and consumer goods (−0.3%) decreased.

In the same period, the Industrial Products Index (which does not include energy and is not adjusted by working days) decreased by 3.7% compared to the same month of the previous year, and the Industrial Production Index (which includes energy) decreased by 4.6%. By large industrial sectors, only capital goods (1.7%) increased; while energy (−11.7%), consumer goods (−6.9%) and intermediate goods (−3.7%) decreased.

Finally, by industrial divisions the only increases were registered by the manufacture of transport material (2.5%) and chemical industries (2.0%); on the other hand, the highest decreases were found in the textile, clothing, leather and footwear industries (−14.4%) and in the graphic arts and recorded media industries (−12.3%).
