Statistics and Accounts of the Tourism Companies. 2021

The turnover of tourism companies in Catalonia was 27,073 million euros in 2021. The number of companies stood at 122,645, and the sector employed 410,080 people.

By activity, Transport of tourism generated a turnover, in millions of euros, of 3,804 (14.0% of the total), and Hostelry of 10,473 (38.7%), while that of Other tourism services was 12,795 million euros (47.3% of the total).

In the reference year 2021, several methodological improvements are applied to the Structural Business Statistics. Consequently, this year's results are not strictly comparable with those of previous years. The most significant changes affecting the Statistics and Accounts of the Tourism Companies are: the extension of the sample of Arts, entertainment and recreation (section R of the CCAE-2009); the specification of which institutional sectors are covered by the Statistics, and, finally, an improvement in the estimation of the number of companies.

From 2020 onwards, the Innovation in Companies Survey is conducted every two years, in even years. For this reason, in 2021 there is no data available on innovation.
