Statistics on Salaried Employment and Self-Employment according to Social Security Affiliations. 12/2023. Provisional data

The number of affiliations to the General Social Security Scheme with location of the contribution account in Catalonia increased by 3.1% year-over-year in December 2023 and stood at 3,034,175 affiliations, according to provisional data. By counties, those with the highest relative increases were El Pallars Jussà (31.7%), El Baix Penedès (26.3%) and El Solsonès (13.9%). On the other hand, El Moianès (−12.3%), La Segarra (−2.4%) and El Berguedà (−2.1%) recorded the largest relative decreases. The largest increases in absolute terms were recorded in El Barcelonès (24,120 affiliations), El Vallès Occidental (22,870 affiliations) and El Baix Llobregat (9,115 affiliations), while El Moianès (−355 affiliations), La Segarra (−235 affiliations) and El Berguedà (−170 affiliations) recorded the largest losses of affiliations. It should be taken into account that the variation rates are influenced by administrative changes made in the third quarter of 2023 to the contribution accounts that affect the Public Administration and Education sectors and especially in the counties of El Baix Penedès and El Pallars Jussà; moreover, these changes are in addition to the territorial changes resulting from the creation of El Lluçanès and the change of county designation of Biosca and Torà, which affects the counties of El Solsonès and La Segarra.

The number of self-employed workers carrying out economic activities in Catalonia rose by 0.4% year-over-year to 559,940 affiliations. The counties that have recorded the greatest increase in relative terms are El Solsonès (11.7%, affected by the change of county designation of Biosca and Torà), El Garraf and La Selva (1.8%, both). In absolute numbers, the growth was led by El Barcelonès (1,390 affiliations), El Vallès Occidental (250 affiliations) and El Garraf and La Selva (both 210 affiliations). On the other hand, La Segarra (−12.7%, affected by the change of county designation of Biosca and Torà), Osona (−4.6%, affected by the creation of El Lluçanès) and La Conca de Barberà (−3.6%) are the counties with the largest relative decreases and Osona (−650 affiliations), La Segarra (−265 affiliations) and El Bages (−190 affiliations) have done so in absolute terms.

The number of contribution accounts to the General Social Security Scheme in Catalonia increased by 0.3% year-over-year (747 contribution accounts) to 244,783 accounts. The counties that have led the growth in relative numbers are El Priorat (4.9%), La Cerdanya (3.1%) and el Ripollès (2.5%). In absolute numbers, El Barcelonès (670 contribution accounts), El Tarragonès (66 accounts) and El Gironès (60 accounts) are the counties that have recorded the greatest growth. On the other hand, Osona (−204 contribution accounts, affected by the creation of El Lluçanès) and El Bages (−86 accounts) are the counties that have recorded the largest decreases in absolute terms.
