Annual Economic Accounts for Catalonia. 2023. Advance of the GDP

Catalonia’s gross domestic product registered an annual increase of 2.6% in 2023, according to the advanced estimate. This figure represents a reduction with respect to 2022 (5.5%).

All sectors of activity present positive year-over-year variations except agriculture. Industry, with a growth of 2.8%, is the only sector to show an improvement compared to 2022, when it registered (−2.0%). Services were up by 3.1%, four points and eight tenths less than a year earlier (7.9%), while construction grew by 2.5%, two points less than the year before (4.5%). Agriculture posted an annual 17.6% decline.

The annual advance of the GDP incorporates a first estimate of GDP, calculated by aggregating the four quarters of the quarterly advance of GDP. This provisional estimate will be updated on 20 March, when the Annual Economic Accounts for Catalonia are published.
