Exports decreased by a year-over-year 1.3% and imports by 6.5% in Catalonia in January 2024.

By economic destination, exports of capital goods dropped by 15.0% and intermediate goods by 6.8%; however, those of consumer goods grew by 10.1%. By geographical areas, the increases in sales in other countries of Europe (16.6%) and in North America (5.5%) stand out; on the other hand, the decreases in the European Union (−0.8%), in Central and South America (−16.6%) and in the rest of the world (−11.6%) also stand out.

By economic destination, imports of all goods decreased: consumer goods by 8.8%, capital goods by 12.5% and intermediate goods by 4.5%. By geographical areas, the decreases in purchases from the European Union (−1.6%), in other countries of Europe (−18.3%), Central and South America (−29.2%) and the rest of the world (−15.7%) stand out; on the other hand, the increase in purchases in North America (46.9%) also stand out.
