Survey on ICT Equipment and Use in Households 2021

The Survey on Survey on ICT Equipment and Use in Households provides information on ICT equipment in households (computer, touchscreen tablet, landline telephone, mobile telephone, Internet connection) and the use that the population makes of computers, the Internet and e-commerce. It is an annual sample-based survey carried out by the INE in collaboration with Idescat, by means of an agreement between both institutes. Idescat extends the results offered by this survey for the region of Catalonia. The information obtained is comparable among autonomous communities, Spain and other countries.

The results on ICT equipment in households are broken down by household characteristics (size of municipality, size of household, type of household and net monthly income of the household). The tables containing the results for the use of ICT offer information broken down by demographic and socioeconomic characteristics.

The information published refers to homes in which at least one person aged between 16 and 74 years lives and to people in this same age group.

The data were calculated using estimates taken from the INE Population figures on 1 July 2021 and the results on the use of ICTs have been calibrated by nationality, as well as applying the traditional calibration for sex and age.

As well as the results for 2021, information also appears in the Research · Technology section for this survey in previous years. A simplified version of the results is also available in the Economic structure indicators.
