Quaderns d'Estadística i Investigació Operativa (Qüestiió) was a journal published by the Statistical Institute of Catalonia (Idescat) since 1992 (volume 16) until year 2002 (volume 26), with additional sponsorship from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Universitat de Barcelona, Universitat de Girona, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and Idescat itself, and with the co-operation of the Spanish Section of the International Biometric Society (ISSN: 0210–8054 / eISSN: 2013–8849). Qüestiió publishes original articles submitted to peer review in those sections dedicated to Official Statistics, General Statistics, Operations Research, and Biometrics. It has also been publishing educational applictions, problems, and reviews of books and software, as well as institutional announcements of activities that take place in the fields of statistics and operations research, especially in Catalonia.
The first series of Qüestiió corresponded to the journal published by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya named Quaderns d'Estadística, Sistemes, Informàtica i Investigació Operativa (1987-1991), which had its origin in the Cuadernos de Estadística Aplicada e Investigación Operativa (1977-1986) and has become one of the main journals for statistics and operations research in Catalan and one of the most long-established journals on these topics in Spain.
Coinciding with the 25 volumes published since 1977, Qüestiió has begun a third series from year 2003 with the aim to achieve a qualitative improvement on its contents to become a more competitive journal and to place itself in the most demanding international standards, trying to increase its own impact and its academic recognition between the statistical and operation research community. The third series of Qüestiió materializes in the journal SORT (Statistics and Operations Research Transactions), in which the originals will be published only in English.
