The population employed in the cultural sector in Catalonia in the third quarter of 2016 was 158,500, which was 5.2% higher than the same quarter of 2015, according to the Active Population Survey. The population employed in this sector represents around 4.9% of total employment. By sex, the cultural sector employed 96,200 men and 62,300 women. The cultural sector in Spain employed a total of 723,000 people, which was 2.9% higher than one year ago, and represents 3.9% of total employment.
