The Industrial Products Price Index remained stable (0.0%) in year-over-year terms in Catalonia in October 2016. For large industrial sectors, consumer goods increased by 0.8% and equipment goods by 0.2%; while intermediate goods decreased by 1.0%. On the other hand, by industrial divisions, the most significant decreases in prices were registered in the manufacturing diversity industries (−1.8%) and in the industries of paper products and in the metallurgy; manufacture of basic iron, steel and ferroalloy products (both with −1.3%); while the highest increases were showed in the printing and reproduction of recorded media (3.8%) and in manufacture of other transport equipment (2.7%). During the same period the industrial price index fell by 0.3% when compared to the same month of the previous year.
The Industrial Price Index is a short-term indicator that measures the monthly evolution in the prices of products manufactured by industry during their first phase of commercialisation. Based on data from INE, Idescat makes a tabulation by major industrial sectors.
