Idescat publishes the Nomenclature of territorial units for statistics (NUTS), standardised in Catalan, corresponding to Regulation (EU) No. 2066/2016 of the European Commission of 21 November 2016, amending the Annexes to Regulation (EU) No. 1059/2003 of the European Parliament and the Council of Europe, which establishes a nomenclature of territorial statistical units (DOUE L322 of 29 November 2016).
Apart from this version, the other NUTS nomenclatures, approved by the European Parliament and the Council of Europe, are also disseminated in the Territorial and entity codes section. In particular, it includes the changes to territorial units made since the last nomenclature, caused by the integration of new Member States into the European Union
The NUTS is the list of the regions of the European Union structured in three hierarchical levels, established by Eurostat in order to provide a uniform division of European Union territorial units for the production of regional statistics.
Based on the version corresponding to Regulation (EC) 176/2008 (DOUE L61 of 5 March 2008), Idescat has standardised the different versions in Catalan, in accordance with the criteria of the Onomastics Office of the Institute of Catalan Studies.
