The Industrial Products Price Index (Base 2010=100) fell by 0.6% in Catalonia in 2016, according to definitive data. By large industrial sectors, intermediate goods fell by 1.8%; whilst were stable equipment goods and consumer goods (in both cases 0.2% ).

By industrial sectors, falls were recorded in electricity and gas (−14,3%) and in manufacturing industries (−1.4%); whilst rose water supply (0.5%) and extraction industries (0.0%) remained stable. Within the manufacturing industries, the sharpest fall was in the other manufacturing industries (−2.9%) and in chemical industries (-2.7%) ; meanwhile manufacture of other transport equipment and printing and reproduction of recorded media saw the greatest rise (3.4% and 3.3%, respectively).

In 2015, the Industrial Price Index fell 3.6% in Catalonia, mainly due to the decrease in energy (−13.6%) .

The Industrial Price Index is a short-term indicator that measures the monthly evolution in the prices of products manufactured by industry during their first phase of commercialisation. Based on data from INE, Idescat makes a tabulation by major industrial sectors.
