The Industrial Products Price Index increased by 2.2% in year-over-year terms in Catalonia in September 2017. For large industrial sectors, all increases: the intermediate goods (3.2%), the consumer goods (1.8%) and equipment goods (1.0%). On the other hand, by industrial divisions, the most significant increases in prices were registered in the metallurgy; manufacture of basic iron, steel and ferroalloy products (15.3%), in the printing and reproduction of recorded media (4.5%), in the chemical industries (2.6%) and in the industries of paper products (2,4%); while the highest decrease registered in the manufacture of other transport equipment (−0.7%). During the same period the industrial price index increased by 3.4% when compared to the same month of the previous year.
The Industrial Price Index is a short-term indicator that measures the monthly evolution in the prices of products manufactured by industry during their first phase of commercialisation. Based on data from INE, Idescat makes a tabulation by major industrial sectors.
