The average billing per occupied room or Average Daily Rate (ADR) at hotel establishments decreased by a year-over-year 0.4% in Catalonia in October 2017 and stood at 93.41 euros. As far as tourism brands are concerned, Terres de LLeida showed the highest year-on-year variations with 15.4% followed by Val d'Aran with 13.1%; while Barcelona is the only tourism brand showed a negative year-on-year variations with 2.9%. On the other hand, the Revenue per Available Room (RevPar) decreased by 2.8% with respect to the same month in the previous year, according to the Hotel Occupancy Survey.
On the occasion of the creation of El Moianès county, the municipalities of Castellcir, Castellterçol, Granera and Sant Quirze Safaja (which were part of the Costa Barcelona brand), from January 2016 they become part of Paisatges de Barcelona brand. This change represents a break in series with the results of previous periods.
The Profitability indicators of the hotel sector aim to provide information on the revenue received by hotel companies for providing an accommodation service, both per occupied room and available room.
The variables it studies are the ADR (Average Daily Rate or revenue per occupied room) and the RevPAR (Revenue per Available Room).
The information is monthly and the idea is to provide two indicators to help the hotel sector with its decisions and for it to be able to evaluate its revenue management.
The data collection for the calculation of the ADR and RevPAR was done using the Survey on hotel occupancy (EOH) conducted by the INE. Idescat publishes both indicators each month for the area of Catalonia and by categories and tour brands, on the basis of the information provided by the INE.
