The Industrial Products Price Index increased by 2.1% in year-over-year terms in Catalonia in October 2017. For large industrial sectors, all increases: the intermediate goods (3.1%), the consumer goods (1.2%) and equipment goods (0.8%). On the other hand, by industrial divisions, the most significant increases in prices were registered in the metallurgy; manufacture of basic iron, steel and ferroalloy products (20.3%), in the manufacture of beverages (4.0%), in the chemical industries (3.0%) and in the industries of paper products (2.6%); while the decreases were registered in the other manufacturing industries( −1.3%) and in the manufacture of other transport equipment (−0.9%). During the same period the industrial price index increased by 3.1% when compared to the same month of the previous year.
The Industrial Price Index is a short-term indicator that measures the monthly evolution in the prices of products manufactured by industry during their first phase of commercialisation. Based on data from INE, Idescat makes a tabulation by major industrial sectors.
